Bournemouth (Westhill) Folk Dance Club is a friendly happy group of around 45 members who enjoy an evening of dancing & socialising.
The Club meets at the Annunciation Church Hall, 218 Charminster Road, Charminster, Bournemouth BH8 9RW. It has a superbly sprung dance floor that encourages us to enjoy many varied dances from the old rustic country type to `Pride & Prejudice` courtly dances. We also do English and American squares and contras.
We dance in anyway we each feel the music – walking, skipping or step-hopping! The music is supplied by CDs and tapes with many modern renditions of the old tunes and most delightful new ones. We walk through the dances and the moves are then called during the dance. Members of all abilities enjoy dancing together. Experienced dancers assisting the less experienced.
We hold two dances a year in Spring and Autumn with experienced callers and bands, plus an event on New Year’s Eve.
Anyone is welcome to come & join us on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of each month (except Bank Holidays and the month of August).
Do come along – stay for 1 week, (your first visit is free) two weeks or maybe stay a lifetime if you find the exercise, dancing and company are for you. Full members pay £6 per year in October plus £2 per evening. Non-members pay £3.00 per evening.
